Do your New Year Resolutions work for you?
Dear Entrepreneur, Marketer and Blogger
First of all let me wish You and Your Families A Happy, Healthy and Wealthy 2008!
Why New Year’s Resolutions Don’t Work and How You Can Get Around it
(Part1_Goalsetting)
Every new year, right at the beginning, I sit down with my calendar, journal, mindmaps etc. and reflect the old one.
All the things I’ve got, my mistakes, successes, failures, results, what I could have done better, what I’ve learned, what I’ve missed. At this point everything is pure feedback to me - no emotions!
Of course I make notes and plan for the new year too. But not New Year’s resolutions as we or you know them.
Do New Year Resolutions work for you? I feel and can see they don’t work very well for most people.
What about you? I’ve noticed most people never live-up to their resolutions.
Today, one month later or at least 3 months later, it’s back to business as usual for most of the people and nobody seems to care about their own resolutions.
30 Days are already gone! Think about it. Where are you today? Do you live-up to your resolutions, your goals or your vision for 2008?
Hey, soon it’s Super-Bowl-Time and Valentines Day …
Let me ask you to put some time and effort and fun into planning your next 11 months of 2008.
But before you do that, you need to do something else first…
After all the excitement, why don’t you sit down for a while and think about all the things you did in the past 365 days.
If you haven’t done it yet - now it’s the perfect time. In case you’ve made your plan for 2008, it’s a good idea to check it again.
You need to look back so you can plan ahead. Think about what you’ve done. What you’ve achieved.
Take lessons in mistakes and successes. And then you can start to make real plans for something better or bigger.
You know what, I am going to ask you to do something. And I am still doing it myself…
I want you to take out a pen and a piece of paper. I want you to write:
[+] Things I Achieved In 2007
[+] Things I Didn’t Finish In 2007
[+] New People I Met In 2007
[+] Books I Read In 2007
[+] Things I Bought In 2007
[+] Proudest Moments In 2007
[+] Lowest Moments In 2007
and whatever is important to you!
I promise you, when you write those down, you will have a new outlook on 2008.
With that new outlook, you are going to enter 2008 with Clarity and Power!
After releasing 2007 go for 2008 and plan ahead (took one day off - you deserve it):
* Set goals that are realistic, time-framed and measurable
* Set goals based on past performance, knowledge and experience
* Set goals that address your unique situation
Let me share a touching video and you’ll see what is possible for you and me too, if …
I wish you all the best, a big “if …” for a great 2008.
Warm Regards,
Your Roland Varduhn
PS: Your big “if …” is your reason WHY!
